Columbus Day weekend marked our big camp trip to Garner State Park. The park is in Texas, about a 5 hour drive from us. What a terrific time we had! Our good friends came along and we enjoyed relaxing by the campfire, hiking to Crystal Cave, swimming in the extraordinarily clear Rio Frio (means "cold river" for those of you who may not immediately understand the spanish translation), playing in the misty forest, a full play production by the kids complete with stage curtains (beach towels on a rope) and a wooded backdrop, amazing food prepared in our outdoor kitchen, and swinging in the hammock. Camping seems to be so much work, but always so worth it to spend good quality time outside with wonderful people we love.

What a fabulous weekend!! I love the teething rock that Caleb is enjoying. Too bad that carrot didn't come out as planned Brendan. Maybe next time! Thanks for sharing.
how fun! beautiful place to go. your baby is already so big!
What a fun family get-a-way!
It looks gorgeous there! And all the kids singing at the end of your post was the cutest thing ever!!!
Oh my goodness that river looks amazing! I'm sure the 10 loads of laundry were worth it--think of the memories ;)
Looks like great fun. I am so happy that you are enjoying the great outdoors with your family!
Wish all of our family could participate in such activities.
Love you all.
Grandma F.
Oh my goodness!! Growing up, I spent every summer vacation there - 2 weeks at least! I haven't been in years so you just brought back some memories. The Frio is the reason I only swim in clear water; it spoils you! I must say you were brave to get in in October!
