I appreciate music in my life; it's capacity to uplift and touch my soul like nothing else. Lately I've been playing background music throughout the day to accompany our school work, eating, playtime, laundry, etc. I have focused on Mozart most recently, but like to change it up each day or week. I've especially enjoyed Music for The Mozart Effect because it makes me think I'm giving everyone an extra brain boost! I also enjoy the company of Tommy Emmanuel, George Winston, Corelli, Jesse Cook (thanks Melanie), Bach, Jon Schmidt, Bill Whelan, and Altan. Please comment if you have any great suggestions! What a wonderful way to bring the Spirit into our daily routine.

I heard Stravinsky's Rite of Spring the other day on public radio... fitting music for this time of year :)
My children's school has classical music playing in the background in each classroom. From what I see on the days I volunteer as a teacher's aid, I think it makes a huge difference in the kids' ability to properly concentrate. I've always used classical music at nighttime to help the kids go to sleep as well.
So - we're pretty much music addicts at our house. From the minute we get up until my kids fall asleep we're listening to music. Though not classical - two of our all time favorite CD's are from the Mormon Tabernacle Choir - 'Love At Home' and 'Consider the Lilies'. Both have an incredibly calming and nurturing effect on the entire family.
